What model based animation is

Model based animation is when photographs of model characters are taken as a still image, they are then moved very slightly and taken a still image of again. They are played back in sequence and it gives the impression that the models are moving.

Example of model based animation

This is the example of model based animation I found which is called Wallace & Gromit.

What is cell animation

Cell animation is when you draw a picture onto a plastic sheet sheet which is also called a cell. They then photograph the cell then make another cell to put over the top of it, they keep doing this process till an animation has been made. It takes really long to do which is a disadvantage, for example Snow White was a cell animation which took 3 and a half years to make.

Cell animation is made at 25 images a second.

Cell animation example

This is an example of cell animation called Evolution

This is the cut animation we made in a class exercise.

Persistence of vision is when the brain persists an image for 1/25th of a second before the image moves onwards in an animation.

This is a time lapse video of the sky moving over a set period of time, also it shows daylight and night time taking place.

Time lapse is an animation that is basically still shots of motion over a set period of time, the camera is set to go off at regular intervals, so when you play it back in sequence, it gives the illusion that something is moving.

In our animation class today, I made my own basic time lapse video of me moving about.
